The Belogorsky St Nicholas Monastery stands on the summit of White Mountain in Kungur District, Perm Krai, about 70 kilometres from Kungur. Its imposing Exaltation of the Cross Cathedral and open position earned it the nickname of the Urals Athos; the terrace in front of the cathedral looks far out over the surrounding ridges. The road is asphalt with a long climb up the mountain, and there is parking at the top. In winter and in fog it is noticeably colder and windier on the summit than below.
