Mamontovaya Kurya
Description
Mamontova Kurya is an archaeological site on the River Usa in the Komi Republic, north of the Arctic Circle. Excavations produced mammoth bones with working marks and stone tools, making it one of the northernmost known traces of early humans in Eastern Europe. The place is wild and hard to reach: there are no roads to it and it has not been turned into a museum.
