Abalaksky Monastery

Description

A monastery in the village of Abalak, a little over twenty kilometres from Tobolsk, set on the high bank of the Irtysh: the terrace in front of the walls gives one of the best views of the river. The monastery is associated with the veneration of the Abalak Icon of the Mother of God. A tourist complex with a reconstructed wooden stockade, parking and a café operates alongside — a convenient stop on a trip to Tobolsk.
