The Dormition Cathedral was built at the turn of the 18th century and is considered one of the finest churches in southern Russia: two-tiered, with an ambulatory gallery and the ceremonial staircase of the Place of Execution. It stands within the Astrakhan Kremlin, where all the city tours lead.
